Seriously, it may not help you but Linux IS the best way to play Diablo 2 (and many other Windows-only games)! In Linux, you can have as many installations of D2 (or whatever other Windows games) as you want, each with their own game and patch version, mod set, saves and all. They are all automatically separate from each other as they are all installed in their own 'instances' - containers, if you will (NOT virtual machine or anything of the like). You can run as many instances as you like, copy protection, B Net, Glide Wrapper, Plugy and all of that still work too! No copying around directories, stuffing around with the Registry (lol) or using a loader.

Mac Classic was for Mac's that ran classic Mac OS 8 and 9 on PowerPC based Mac's while Carbon was an API that allowed most apps that were developed for classic Mac OS 8 and 9 to be re-compiled to run on earlier Mac OS X systems (both PowerPC and Intel based). The Carbon API was fully depreciated as of OS X 10.8 back in 2012.
